What was the point of college, besides the obvious?
- Comments

College was a very pivotal point in my life. More so than the education was the people I met during college and the way they influenced my future. College is not just about books and getting a degree. It’s about going away, getting out of your comfort zone and exposing yourself to things, people, cultures, and personalities you have never experienced before.
In order to know what it is you truly want out of life you have to be exposed to it. If you stay in your comfort zone and never step out to meet new people in an unfamiliar social circle, you will miss out on many opportunities. Stepping out allows you to get exposed to something new that just may be your calling. When you know exactly what you want, it’s easier to sketch out a plan on how to get it. You can’t want what you have never seen or experienced. Get some exposure…
Next time someone you wouldn’t normally hang out with asks you to go to lunch or do something different. GO! You never know what conversation or insight you could experience with that person that inspires new ideas or a new concept. The best ideas come about when your just joking around talking about random things. Though the person who takes that random thought and puts it into action is usually the one regarded as the genius and ahead of their time.
So if college has passed you by and you didn’t meet any different influential people, START NOW! Think about all those invitations you turned down… Everything happens for a reason, including meeting people. Every time you turn down an invitation to dew something new, your turning down a possible turning point in your life?
