Work or play? Are they the same? For some…

Like me many people who have so-called “made it” I simply went to college, picked the best major to guarantee a decent life, because that was the typical thing to do. We graduated, got that “good job”, and proceeded to live life going to work and waiting for the weekend. The terms “TGIF” and “HUMP DAY” had to be created by people who simply worked to pay the bills.
Now that we are in this terrible economy and people are getting laid off left and right ( I was one of them), do you think it’s a good time to do some soul searching? I mean people are getting laid off from jobs they never liked in the first place, because they were simply trading time for money. In life no matter who you are or where you’re from “TIME” is our most precious asset and we willfully give it away for a wage that society and our employers have deemed reasonable.
But what about those other people…? Those who may have went to college or skipped it all together that were brave enough to follow there dreams from the beginning. These were not the people who said, “I am just going to play it safe and get a decent job where I know I’ll get paid”. They are the one’s who followed their passions and the things they enjoy while discovering ways to turn that passion into a way of life. To them Tuesday is just as awesome as Saturday because they are doing what they love to do on both days.
Now that many are being forced to start over as jobs go bye-bye this is the best time to figure out how your going to live the rest of your life. Yes, you may have to take a job you don’t want to keep food on the table, but start to evaluate yourself and the things you love and have passion for. Figure out how you can begin to transition into doing what you love instead of just working. No matter what it is there is a way for you to make a living at it if you will only research the possibilities.
Here are some basic examples of people turning what they love into a living. I mean the easy one’s are I love Art, Photography, Hair, Cars, Fashion, Sports, etc. Check these out…

I can go on and on but here is the gist of what I am getting at. What ever your passionate about and love to do there is an opportunity for you to either write about, make it and sell it, start a service, become a critic, found an organization, etc. If it hasn’t been done that means it’s time for you to become the pioneer. Don’t think I’m not taking my own advice, my passions are exploring the “the good life” and the people that live them, exotic cars, fine living, food, eating, food, did I say food
. I am currently working on a porject to bring my passions into a career. For now I will work my day job from 9-5, but I will give everything I have before and after that to gain my freedom and that dream of my good life.
