“Everything is horrible and it’s going to get worse! What am I going to do, who has time to think about dreams when I am worrying about losing my job. Our economy is so bad right now all I can think about is survival. Companies are getting bailed out while I am left here to suffer. I shouldn’t buy that Gucci bag because people are jobless right now. No I won’t buy that Porsche or that Omega watch because it would be in bad taste. I am going to live a sub par life so I don’t feel so bad about everyone else in this economy who’s suffering…”

give-me-a-break

Can we please get a little breather from the negativity? Seriously, sometimes I try and watch the news simply for the weather and end up depressed and down by the time the meteorologists comes on. Yeah we know, stocks are down, people are losing jobs, companies are going under, money managers have stolen billions, etc. etc. etc. On top of all that you get report after report about how people who are actually doing well in this climate are cutting back on luxuries because they feel bad about the economy and everyone hurting. Why? Don’t feel bad about me I need the motivation and the image of people doing well to give me hope.

I disagree with this ideology. If you happen to be doing well  during this economy please enjoy your life. If you see your dream car and can afford it buy it. If you see some designer items that will give you the warm and fuzzies buy them. Need a vacation, take it. Yes there are people out there who have lost their jobs  (I was one of them) and are hurting currently, but at least give the rest of us some hope and inspiration that there are people doing okay right now. If everyone starts buying into this recession including those doing well we will never get out of it. Doesn’t Gucci, Prada, Ferrari, Porsche and nameless other luxury companies not have employees who need work?

“Be frugal, rain in your spending, cut out the excess where needed, but not to the point where you stop living your life and experiencing the things you have dreamed of.” – emdooize

Speaking of dreaming,  has everyone forgotten about their dreams during the recession? This should be the time when dreams mean the most. When all you have is your mind and positive thoughts to get you through. Just because there is a recession does not mean I should not think about my dream home, the exotic car I have always wanted since I was a kid, and the lavish vacation I have been wanting to take. How will I see these things and be motivated to go after them if everyone who already has it starts cutting it from their lives. The less exotic cars on the road is the less motivation I have to work with…

I refuse to let the media beat me over the head with bad news day after day about what’s going wrong and how bad everything is. Protect your dreams, and your state of mind, throw all this bad news in the recession spam folder and focus on your future and how you’re  going to come through this to live the life you have dreamed of. Don’t just dream take action!

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” – T.E. Lawrence quotes
